The jury returned at about 6:30 PM with a verdict of guilty of second-degree murder as a lesser-included offense of first degree murder, guilty of grand larceny, not guilty of robbery, not guilty of felony murder, and not guilty of either of the counts of burglary — either breaking and entering with intent to commit assault or breaking and entering with intent to commit larceny.
The sentencing range for second-degree murder is 5 to 40 years; the sentencing range for grand larceny is 0 to 20 years. The judge had the parties go straight into the sentencing phase. The prosecution presented Yeardley Love’s mother and sister, and the defense presented no evidence. The jury has now retired to consider the sentence.
